Super Mario 64 DS i cant figure out how to pick up the pinguin can you help me?

on the DS they don’t have a “punch” button.

they do have a punch button you need to use luigy or Mario and use the action button to pick him up or you can just run towards the penguin with them and slide to him he will pick him up automatically i think you have to hold the button to pick him up i forgot but try to hold the button
